According Gartner.com mobile phone sales rose 17% in the first quarter of 2010 worldwide. Is 315 million units sold.

The large increase in the use of phones is due to the emergence of smartphones.

Nokia, the market leader, is facing competition and reduced market share of 36.2% in the first quarter of 2009 to 35% in the first three months of this year.

Samsung saw a market increase to 20.6%, LG Electronics with 8.6%. The fourth place is Canada’s Research In Motion, maker of the BlackBerry, ahead of Sony Ericsson and Motorola.

The preferences of the market by Nokia smartphones placed first with 24 million units sold (44% of worldwide sales), Second Research In Motion, with 10.6 million devices sold. Apple ranked third with 8.4 million iPhones sold.

No doubt mobile phones will remain for some time very profitable business.
